How the app works

At TravelKonnekt we connect people to people, places, and experiences to enhance the journey.

Signing in

You sign in with your email. We send you a 6-digit code: type it in and you're in.

Your profile, your points and your journey follow you from town to town.

To change your name, what you offer or what you're after, tap 👤 Your profile in the ⋯ menu.

The five tabs

Home is what is happening where you are right now.

The Road is the towns you are headed to next.

Town is the town itself: what's on, gems, services, caravan parks and the town notes.

Chats is every conversation you are part of.

Guide is two AI helpers, one for the town and one for you.

Home

Call outs first. Local Info takes you to the Town tab, where What's on leads. What people are saying takes you into the chat.

Tap the line under the town name, the one that reads something like “6 travellers nearby”, to see everyone in town.

The orange + Share button at the bottom starts a call out, a get-together or a post.

Call outs

A call out asks the whole town for a hand. Tap Put a call out and say what you need. Normal Call stays up for 24 hours, Urgent for 6.

To answer someone else's, tap I can help and post. Everyone in town sees it. To talk privately, tap Message.

When yours is done, tap Mark it sorted and add a thank you. The town sees who helped.

Get-togethers

Tap Get something going and pick what, when and where. A card game, a walk, a shared barbecue.

Tap I'm in on anyone's get-together to put your name on the list, and 📅 Add to calendar to put it in your phone's calendar.

Chats

Where you are holds your park chat, your town chat, and Australia Travel Tips & Chat, which is every traveller in the country.

Up the road holds the town chat of each stop you have planned, so you can ask ahead before you get there.

Places you've been holds the town chats you starred: they still bring you word. You can star five. The rest fold away under Other towns you've been.

Private messages are your conversations with one person. Start one with Say hello on anyone's card in People in town.

Under any message, ↩ Reply quotes it, and the ⋯ copies the text, reports the message or blocks the person.

Town

The search box at the top finds anything in town: the cafe, the walk, the mechanic, what is on.

Local gems are the places, walks and stories travellers have written down. Open one to read the tips and add yours.

Services local & mobile are the people you can pay or book, including the ones who travel to you.

What's on is the town's event board. Caravan parks lists the parks with their Google ratings.

+ Add to the town, at the top of its page, adds a gem, a service, an event, a town note, a caravan park or a call out.

Open a gem or a service and tap 🗺 Look it up on Google Maps for its photos, reviews, hours, phone number and directions.

Everybody can add to a gem: tap one open and Add a tip puts your bit under the first person's.

The ⋯ on anything you added yourself holds Edit this and Remove this. Once someone else has added a tip to your gem, it stays and you edit it instead.

Town notes

Tap 📖 Town notes on the town page. They are dated notes about the town: which day the market is on, when the fruit is in, what to know before you come.

Anyone can read it. You can add to it on a day you are in that town, and what you write stays there under your name.

The Road

+ Add a stop builds your route in the order you plan to travel it. The arrows reorder it and Remove takes one off.

Who's up the road counts the travellers and locals in each town ahead.

Coming the other way names travellers heading to where you are now. Tap Message to ask how the road was.

Worth the detour shows gems from your next towns and from the roads between them.

🗺 Open the route in Google Maps hands the whole route to your maps app.

Guide

Local Guide knows who is in town, what is on and the local gems, so ask it anything about where you are.

Sounding Board is a private place to think out loud about how the road is going.

Both are AI, so check anything that matters.

The bell

The bell at the top right holds what has happened for you: messages, answers to your call outs, your name in a town chat, someone crossing your path, and the 4pm round-up of what is on tonight.

Tap any line in it to go straight to the thing itself.

Points

You earn points for showing up: putting your hand up on a call out, getting a get-together going, saying you are in, adding a gem or a tip, and passing the app on.

Tap your points total, or open 🧭 Your journey and points in the ⋯ menu, and you land on your total with every line behind it.

Rewards from local businesses appear under Spend them in town as those businesses come on board. When one is there and you have enough points, you tap Redeem and show the code at the counter.

People in town

People in town lists everyone here who has shared a profile, with what they offer and what they are after. Tap Say hello to start a chat.

When you move on

Tap I've moved on at the top of Home, or use the banner the app shows when it spots you in a new town.

Pick the town and say where you are staying.

Notifications on this device

Open the ⋯ menu and tap Notifications on this device.

It sends messages, answers to your call outs, and the 4pm round-up.

Put it on your home screen

Open the ⋯ menu and tap Add to home screen, or follow the steps below.

iPhone, in Safari. Tap ••• at the bottom right of Safari, then Share. No •••? Tap the Share icon in Safari's own bar, the square with an arrow coming out of the top. Scroll down the list and tap Add to Home Screen.

iPhone, in Chrome. Tap the Share icon in the address bar (or •••, then Share), then Add to Home Screen.

Android. Tap Install when the app offers it. If it does not appear, open your browser's ⋮ menu and tap Install app or Add to Home screen.

If you opened the link inside Facebook, Messenger, Instagram or the Google app, tap Copy the link, open Safari or Chrome, paste it in, and follow the steps above.

Passing it on

Open the ⋯ menu and tap Share TravelKonnekt. You get your own QR code and a link. When someone you brought in joins their first get-together, you earn 20 points.

Reporting and blocking

Tap the small ⋯ on any message, post or person. A report goes to the TravelKonnekt team. A block stops the two of you seeing each other, and you can undo it from your journey page.
